Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s Environment and Pollution Control Committee Holds Review Meeting in Bokaro Strict directives

Bokaro, (khaberaajtak): During its two-day visit to Bokaro, the Environment and Pollution Control Committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly held an important review meeting with district-level officials at Bokaro Parishadan on Monday. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Uday Kumar Singh. Committee members Mr. Jiga Susaran Horo, Mr. Sanjeev Sardar, Mr. Roshal Lal Chaudhary, and Ms. Shweta Singh were also present.

The committee reviewed the environmental protection and pollution control measures undertaken by departments including Mining, Forest, Pollution Control Board, BSL, Road Construction, and others. It sought detailed information from the Mining Department regarding the sand ghats in the district, including total sand mined, daily transportation, frequency of inspections, and actions taken.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the actions taken by the Pollution Control Board (Dhanbad unit), the committee directed the Regional Officer to provide reports on inspections of siding areas and correspondence with the headquarters regarding air pollution control measures.

The Rural Works Department was asked to submit reports on compensatory plantation against tree cutting during road construction projects. The committee also discussed the issue of open garbage disposal in Sector 11 by BSL. Relevant departments were asked to provide documents and correspondences related to actions taken by the Pollution Control Board and BSL’s communication with the district administration.

All major district officials attended the meeting. Prior to the meeting, the Chairman and Committee Members were welcomed with bouquets by the District Forest Officer, DPLR Director, and Additional Deputy Commissioner.

The committee also conducted surprise inspections at Bokaro Railway Siding and various industrial establishments in the BIADA area to assess pollution control compliance and environmental measures taken by the industries.
