Asansol (Khaber Aajtak):- As per the wish of the Honorable Prime Minister redevelopment of Pandabeshwar Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is rapidly advancing, promising to provide enhanced amenities and services for passengers.
Pandabeshwar Station, located in the Pandabeshwar block of Paschim Bardhaman district, is an NSG 5 category station on the Andal-Sainthia branch line. It serves as a crucial coal loading hub, surrounded by numerous Eastern Coalfields Limited mines within a 10 km radius. The station’s historical significance and strategic importance make it an ideal candidate for modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The redevelopment at Pandabeshwar Station aims to improve functionality and aesthetics, aligning with Indian Railways’ broader vision of modernization. Key enhancements include improved station access and traffic circulation within the circulating area (8717 sqm), construction of an entrance porch (6.3 sqm), and the provision of toilet facilities for Divyangjan (4 sqm). The station will also receive significant aesthetic upgrades to its façade and elevation.
To enhance comfort and convenience for passengers, an air-conditioned waiting hall (231 sqm) and a new indoor toilet block (62 sqm) for male and female passengers will be established. The project also includes expanding the parking area (1895 sqm) and constructing a 12-meter-wide foot overbridge with ramps to ensure safety and accessibility. Platform enhancements, such as resurfacing and the installation of new platform shelters, are also part of the plan.
Additional facilities include a separate waiting hall, ticket booking counters, ramp facilities, and a separate water booth for Divyangjan passengers. A lift will be installed to facilitate movement between Platform 01 and Platform 02, catering to Divyangjan, elderly passengers, and those with limited mobility. Two extra platform sheds will be provided to enhance passenger comfort.
The redevelopment work is progressing swiftly, reflecting the Asansol Division’s commitment to improving passenger experience and operational efficiency. Upon completion, Pandabeshwar Station will feature modern amenities such as cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks promoting local products under the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme, upgraded passenger information systems, executive lounges.
